Great Walk

The Diabetes UK Great North Walk is on the move to Guisborough in old North Yorkshire and lying within the borough of Redcar and Cleveland. The route, which actually starts and finishes at Pinchinthorpe Visitor Centre, takes in Roseberry Topping and Hanging Stones along its 10 mile track.

The event takes place on Sunday 27 June and promises to be a great day out for all the family. This year the Wheels Friendly Little Loop will cover a distance of 2.5 miles and although there are some small hills and slightly rough ground it is suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs and those of you with smaller children who may not be.

Following England’s qualification for the last 16 of the World Cup, the Diabetes UK Great North Walk will have a special early starting slot for supporters wishing to watch the match against Germany on Sunday afternoon.

There will now be a special 10:10 (one-nil, one-nil) wave for fans wishing to complete the 10 mile walk in time to ensure they are back to watch the last 16 clash which kicks off at 15:00.

Please note that this is a concession for those who are genuinely wishing to watch the match. If everyone opted to start at 10:10 it could potentially create Health & Safety issues. The times for all other waves will remain the same, from 10:30 onwards.
